Steve Spott is in his third season as an Assistant Coach with the Vegas Golden Knights, having joined the team mid-season in December 2019 alongside Head Coach Pete DeBoer. Spott began his coaching career as the Head Coach of Seneca College in 1994 and then went on to spend over 16 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League which included 4 years as an Assistant Coach with the Plymouth Whalers and then 12 years with the Kitchener Rangers as an Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager, then Head Coach and General Manager.

In 2003 and 2008 Spott won the OHL Championship while serving as the Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager with the Kitchener Rangers. He also took home a U20 World Junior Championship Gold Medal in 2010 as an Assistant Coach with Team Canada.

In 2013, he made the move to the AHL for one season with the Toronto Marlies (leading them to the Western Conference Finals) before moving to the Assistant Coach position for the Toronto Maples Leafs under then Head Coach Randy Carlyle. In 2015 he was hired by the San Jose Sharks as an Assistant Coach under Pete DeBoer where he served for four seasons.
