RALEIGH, N.C. – One day the call will come and it will be Rod Brind’Amour’s turn.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it will toll for Brind’Amour. Just as it ultimately tolls for all NHL head coaches.

Brind’Amour certainly gets it. And in a year that has seen eight head coaches fired in-season, with Bruce Boudreau’s shocking dismissal in Minnesota on Friday morning the latest, the vagaries of the coaching industry have never been more fully brought into sharp focus.

But what separates Brind’Amour from most of his peers in the ever-shifting coaching world is that when his time comes, Brind’Amour imagines that will be it for him.
