As the first snowflake fell from the sky in Ontario, Canada, Peter DeBoer promptly booked his flight to Las Vegas.

The Golden Knights coach opted to remain in his home province following Vegas’ late exit from the NHL postseason in September, but as the frigid Canadian winter rolled in, DeBoer flew south.

“You can’t beat this for November and December,” DeBoer said on Monday, from the parking lot of the HELP of Southern Nevada building in Las Vegas. DeBoer met up with several Golden Knights players on a sunny morning to help distribute Thanksgiving turkeys and meals to Las Vegas families.
